Nurse Practitioner of the Year 2026
If you would like to nominate a colleague for the WVAPN Conference NP of the Year 2025, please submit your nomination by email to Denise Parks.
Criteria for the award are below:
The candidate will demonstrate excellence in the advancement of nurse practitioners, in at least one of these areas:

Clinical Practice

Outstanding Leadership
-
Legislative Efforts
-
Nursing Research
-
Mentoring
-
Entrepreneur
Nominate a colleague for Nurse Practitioner of the Year, and share his or her expertise, commitment, excellence in practice and mentorship with your colleagues.
Only you know what makes a colleague, the NP of the Year, although we provide guidelines, don't forget that you have the ideal opportunity to see your colleague in practice, and know what excellence is offered to other nurse practitioners and this field of nursing.

Honor your colleague by taking a few minutes ot nominate him or her for this presigious award.

Considering the criteria above, write a letter detailing why you believe your nominee deserves this recognition. Additionally, submit the nominee’s resume/vitae to parksdi@marshall.edu

WVAPN Conference
Nurse Practitioner Preceptor of the Year 2026
​
​
The preceptor is an integral member of the NP education team. As such, he/she plays a vital role in the mentoring of future nurse practitioners.
The purpose of this award is to recognize a Nurse Practitioner Preceptor who is committed to the excellence of clinical education of Nurse Practitioners through Preceptorship.
When creating your letter of recommendation consider how the nominee performed as a:

Facilitator

Socialization Agent

Protector

Evaluator

The Planning Committee will review all submissions and present one Preceptor of the Year Award at the annual conference.
​
Award Criteria:
-
Demonstrates a commitment to excellence in the clinical education of Nurse Practitioners.
-
Serves as a role model for other nurse practitioners and the nursing profession in general.
-
Has served as a Preceptor for at least three years.
-
Is Board Certified to practice as a nurse practitioner.
